"When Day Dissolves"

Oil on Linen Canvas

I saw this scene in my rear view mirror as I was leaving a farm near Corsicana, Texas, that I had gone to visit to take pictures of the farm house for a commissioned painting. I stopped right in the middle of the street, grabbed my camera and jumped out of the car to take a photo. I didn't even care if there was a car behind me (there wasn't). I did get some looks from a woman on her porch in a nearby house. I had fun painting this and reflecting the sunset sky in the puddles. I added the truck - it was in front of me right before I looked in my rear view mirror, and I had snapped a quick photo of it through the windshield. You never know when an unexpected painting will jump out at you! I love those times.
