"Revisiting Alluvial Fan"

Plein Air Oil on Linen Panel

Image Size 9 x 12

This beautiful waterfall in Rocky Mountain National Park was caused by the Lawn Lake Flood a while ago, then another flood deposited about a jillion more rocks in front of it, changing its course and its composition for an artist! I liked it better the old way, but one can't fight nature. I tried to block in the rocks all in masses so that I didn't follow my instincts to draw and paint every rock! I also used some oranges and pinks in the block-in to break up the dull, same-color rocks. I had fun with the water, too!
