Oil on Linen Canvas
I painted this from life after my orchid plant decided to bloom. When this happens, I drop everything, because I know it will only happen once a year, if even that. I used a brass bowl that was my mother's and tried to paint the orchids as if they were "coming out of nowhere" into the painting. This required using lots of soft edges on the orchids to the far left and having them almost blend in with the background. This took me several tries to get them soft enough!
