The Rose Window at Mission San Jose in San Antonio, Texas, is one of my favorite things to paint. I've painted it in both oil and watercolor several times and never tire of it. I needed an architectural "fix" and had some very good photos of it from my last trip. I tried to keep the palette very simple and concentrate on the ornate architecture around the window itself, because I've learned that the texture in the surrounding stone can become much too busy!
