"Black Canyon Creek"

Oil on Linen Canvas

This was a scene along the way on a hike to Black Canyon Falls in Rocky Mountain National Park, which my friends and I never saw because of last year's flood. We reached a point where we couldn't pass without falling into the water, so we had to head back. This scene, however, was enough to make the hike worthwhile. I loved the way the light hit the rocks and all of the reflected light that was in the shadows. I had to push the colors of the rocks because they were all a pale, off-white color. I enjoyed getting out the orange!
